How to Watch Sunday's Eagles vs. Bucs Game

September 14, 2018

If you picked the Buccaneers to score 48 points and get by the Saints in Week 1 with Ryan Fitzpatrick at the helm... well you need to be a psychic. If you picked the Eagles to squeeze by the Falcons, well you are just like most people. The Bucs and Eagles come into their Week 2 matchup with two backup quarterbacks leading the way. Fitzpatrick is starting for the suspended Jameis Winston. Nick Foles continues to start at QB as Carson Wentz has yet to be cleared by doctors as he recovers from a torn ACL last season.

With it being early in the season and still no medical clearance for Wentz, it’s smart to be patient. When you have a strong backup that helped lead you to a Super Bowl title, you can do that. Foles was not good in Week 1 against the Falcons, despite his team finishing in the win column. 18-12. Foles was just 19 of 34 for 117 yards and an INT. It was his “Philly Special” part two catch that shifted the momentum and got the offense going. The defense came up huge, especially in the red zone, which led them to victory. They can’t look past the Bucs though, especially if DeSean Jackson does indeed play.

“FitzMagic” was in full effect against the Saints in maybe the most shocking game from Week 1. Fitz threw for an astounding 417 yards, four touchdowns, and no picks. Two of those TDs went to the aforementioned Jackson, and one went to Mike Evans, who finished for a combined 293 yards. The veteran QB even ran it 12 times for 36 yards. The game could come down to the Bucs defense, who gave up 40 points last week. It’s impossible to expect their offense to score close to what they did last week going up against the defending Super Bowl champs.
